Getting your Story Right

Using old-school ways: the team at Roscoe Studio creates storyboards, scripts, schedules and planned locations before the shoot to ensure that your end product is the realization of your vision and tells your story. There is a strong emphasis on the planning process and recommended hiring of staff so the production stays within budget. Out true goal is that the end product’s message is clear and precisely tailored to your targeted market.

Shoot on Location or in the Studio?

Here at Roscoe Studio, we would rather shoot in a studio. What is a studio? A studio is a room which acts as a command center for film makers. Modern studios should have a minimum of 2 cameras, a lighting setup and a control room, for audio and video monitoring throughout the shoot. Similar setups can also be used on location; however, there is typically more cost, time, and crew involved to get similar results.

Time is Money

Storyboards are fundamental to stay on task, on budget, and even more importantly they add a sense of cohesion that connect the art directors, the clients, and even the editing team. Even if the project is very small and there is no money involved, you will still be using labor, which means the team should always be organized. A true professional will think about the budget in the beginning rather than shying away from it. This will help eliminate false assumptions, and typically we stress this in every production. Please call or send us a message regarding pre production.

Distribution

These days videos need to be optimized more than ever. Most videos need to be exported on multiple formats. Typically we recommend a different file for each individual platform the video will play on. For example Youtube videos will be a different compression than a video for television, or a cinema. We think every customer truly deserves this. Have you ever seen a local commercial for a car company on your television? Then the next advertisement in the lineup is a national brand that looks beautiful. This is because whoever made the car commercial is not a professional distributor. Make sure you make the right choices before you connect with your audience.
