Dorchester Day has always struck a positive chord with me.
I have taken a few pictures every year, but this year I knew I was going to shoot.
The first time I found out about Dorchester Day was because once, five years ago, I woke up on a Sunday and I went outside to discover that I couldn’t drive my car because the road was blocked off. It gave me the opportunity to walk around and experience the community in a new way.

Dorchester Day 2017 – Roscoe Lamontagne photography
This year, I showed up at my local neighborhood meeting spot in Lower Mills, and we were lucky enough to be in the right spot at the beginning of the parade. I got to meet the Boston Police Chief, see the Mayor in action, as well as get some great photos of the parade floats before they headed up Dorchester Ave. I also got to meet a bunch of local folks who I hadn’t met before or spoken with. If you would like to use any of these shots of the parade, just contact me below. Thanks for checking out this blog.
