Orson Welles Cinema Project
During a video shoot, I decided to snap some photographs.
| The history and respect for shooting films has diminished. While shoot this documentary I have realized a lot about the process of film making. One used to have to truly respect the process in order to even capture footage. Film used to be expensive, so you wouldnt just poitn and shoot like some cinematographers these days. It was also more of a science since you couldn’t see what you captured until the film was processed. The same with how the film is delivered. A projectionist used to be a real job, now at the cinema, a projectionist is basically an .mp4 DJ. Everything is digital which is good for some things but not for respecting the process. While shooting this documentary I really leaned a lot about respect for this industry.These shots are from a basement archive from the original Orson Welles Cinema in Cambridge, MA. The building was a cinema, school, and eatery. It eventually burned down, and became a CVS. Luckily there is a great community who hold onto the legacy of the Cinema. |
